Basketball Recap: Jersey Shore Takes a Loss

Jersey Shore suffered their biggest defeat since February 10, 2024 on Saturday. They took a blow against the Shamokin Area Indians, falling 71-44. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost eight in a row.

Joe Hile was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 12 on his way to 26 points and four steals for Shamokin Area. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Price, who posted nine points and three steals.

Jersey Shore's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Shamokin Area, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Jersey Shore and Shamokin Area should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Jersey Shore (ranked 193rd) will meet Shikellamy (ranked 558th) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Shamokin Area (ranked 45th) will meet Mifflinburg (ranked 224th) at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
