Softball Recap: Wasco Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

After losing to Taft the last time they met, Wasco decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Cedes Saldana spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abby Salazar, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Lugo, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Salazar wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Wasco lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Wasco's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Taft, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-5.

Wasco will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
