Baseball Recap: Serra Catholic Takes a Loss

If Serra Catholic was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Southmoreland on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Neshannock Lancers by a score of 6-5 on Thursday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

Aiden Corbett made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Max Black, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Serra Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Neshannock, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Serra Catholic will venture away from home to take on Brentwood at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Neshannock, they will challenge Shenango at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
