Football Recap: Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles vs. Yucca Valley Trojans
Desert Hot Springs had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it four. They came up short against the Yucca Valley Trojans, falling 28-7. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
Frank Lopez threw for 111 yards on six of 16 attempts. Dominick Ambal was his top target, picking up 59 receiving yards. On the ground, Anthony Hodge rushed for 53 yards and one TD.
As for Yucca Valley, the victory got them back to even at 3-3. Considering they have won three contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Yucca Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aiden Shannon out in front who threw for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 36 yards and one score. Clyde King was another key back, rushing for 132 yards and one TD.
Looking ahead, Desert Hot Springs will take on Twentynine Palms at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Yucca Valley, they will challenge Banning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
