Baseball Recap: Mission Viejo Takes a Loss

San Clemente hit Mission Viejo with a eight-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Diablos fell 9-4 to the Tritons. The Diablos' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Mission Viejo got a good showing from Justin Garner, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Garner has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Ramirez and Joey Pallone did some serious damage despite the final result: Ramirez went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Pallone got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Mission Viejo's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for San Clemente, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

While Mission Viejo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
