Softball Recap: Coatesville Triumphs

Coatesville gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the Henderson Warriors. The victory continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Gracelynn Landis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jillian Wimmer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Taylor Sherry, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Coatesville's record is now 9-2. As for Henderson, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Coatesville will square off against rival Downingtown East at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Henderson is set to take on their familiar foe East at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
