After flying high against Livingston last Friday, Lumberton came back down to earth. The Lumberton Raiders took a 35-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 581st, while the Bears are ranked 194th).

Lumberton wouldn't let Little Cypress-Mauriceville keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Jacob Marchuk was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Little Cypress-Mauriceville's side was Gage Grimmer, who made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended a pass.

Braylon Lewis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, rushing for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 209 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes. Lewis really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Khayden Reed was Lewis' top target, picking up 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
