Softball Recap: Golden City Comes Up Short

Golden City extended their losing streak to 12 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They came up short against the Lockwood Tigers, falling 16-0. The shutout was out of character for the Eagles seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

As for Lockwood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-6. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Lockwood's part, Kallie Griffin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Griffin has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Asa Lasater and Peyton Lasater did most of the damage at the plate: Asa went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Peyton went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Peyton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracyn Clawson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As of now, neither Golden City nor Lockwood have any future games scheduled.
