Basketball Recap: Dakota Ridge Eagles vs. Standley Lake Gators

The Dakota Ridge Eagles came tearing into Wednesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Standley Lake at home to the tune of 69-38. Given Dakota Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Gators are ranked 174th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Ethan Berninger, who scored 22 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Rominger, who scored nine points along with two blocks.

Asher Serlen and Titus Schrecengost certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Serlen scored 12 points along with three blocks, while Schrecengost scored ten points along with five steals. Serlen hasn't dropped below three blocks for five straight games.

Dakota Ridge pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Standley Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Dakota Ridge will face off against the Ravens at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Denver South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday. As for Standley Lake, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Littleton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 173 points over their last three matches.
