Recap: Walton Raiders vs. Cherokee Warriors
The Walton Raiders put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They really took it to Cherokee for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-7 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Walton, who have now won seven games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Walton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremy Hecklinski led the charge by throwing for 252 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Makari Bodiford was in the mix as well, providing Walton with two touchdowns.
Walton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Lota Ugokwe and his three sacks.
Walton's win was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. As for Cherokee, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Walton will be playing in front of their home fans against Osborne at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Osborne will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Walton is ranked third). As for Cherokee, they will head out on the road to face off against North Cobb at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
