Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen is not a popular man in Texas right now, after Mississippi State withdraw its scholarship offer to
West Mesquite (Mesquite, Texas) quarterback
Chason Virgil,
according to multiple reports.
Virgil, who committed to Mississippi State in May and reportedly has thrown for 35 touchdowns thus far this season, will graduate early from high school next month.
Mississippi State called West Mesquite head coach Jeff Neill and told him they wanted Virgil to "grayshirt", a practice that would require Virgil to wait until the spring of 2016 to enroll in classes on scholarship.
Virgil was not keen on that idea.
"Just knowing that I am graduating early in a month, it is hard to just sit out a whole year without playing and being in a program,"
Virgil told 247Sports.com.
Neill was unhappy with the decision, and took to Twitter to share his feelings.
Prior to committing to Mississippi State, Virgil had offers from Arizona State, Clemson and others. It's now unclear where he will end up.
