Baseball Recap: Monroe Central Find Success

Monroe Central's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They skirted past the Tyler Knights 4-2. While the Seminoles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Monroe Central's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Max Demchak, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Caleb Griffith was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Monroe Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Tyler, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Coming up, Monroe Central will take on River at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Tyler, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wheeling Central Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Maroon Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
