Tumwater has gone 8-2 against Aberdeen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds will head out to square off against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Tumwater will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Montesano, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Thunderbirds' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 6-0 shutout two weeks ago. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderbirds.
Tumwater let Megan Barrett and Jaime Haase run wild. Barrett scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Haase scored a run while going 2-for-3.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Tumwater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montesano only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Hoquiam 18-1. The contest marked the Bobcats' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Lilly Camp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Alyssa Yakovich was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Zoe Vessey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Aberdeen's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Tumwater, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tumwater has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Aberdeen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Tumwater's way against Aberdeen in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Tumwater made off with an 11-0 win. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
