Ponchatoula pushed their score to 15 the last time they played Zachary, but on Tuesday they couldn't quite do it again. The Ponchatoula Green Wave skirted past the Zachary Broncos 2-1. That's two games straight that the Green Wave have won by just one run.

Lillian Virga spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

At the plate, Ponchatoula saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Dagro, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Marlie Cachot also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Ponchatoula and bumps their season record up to 8-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Zachary, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Coming up, Ponchatoula will venture away from home to challenge Archbishop Hannan at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Zachary, they will host Woodlawn-B.R. at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
