Softball Recap: Whitewright Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Whitewright's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Ector Eagles 11-2. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by nine runs or more this season.

Taryn Minzenmayer made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Minzenmayer was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Joslyn Jones and Courtney Brumley did most of the damage at the plate: Jones scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3, while Brumley scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Jones has posted since back in April of 2024. Zarah Prieto was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Whitewright pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 14 hits in those games compared to only 5.38 in the others. As for Ector, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitewright will take on Tioga at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitewright is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Ector, they will challenge Dodd City at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Dodd City has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Ector will no doubt try to take advantage of.
