Softball Recap: Montcalm Generals vs. Mount View Golden Knights

Montcalm extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount View Golden Knights. Even if the Generals couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Mount View, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games.

For Mount View's part, Phoebe Dudgeon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Dudgeon has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 contests.

In other batting news, Mount View got a massive performance out of Shiann Carter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Carter a new career-high. Malayah Barnes was another key player, going 1-for-4 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Montcalm nor Mount View have any future games scheduled.
