Baseball Game Preview: Orange Beach Makos vs. Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils

The Orange Beach Makos will take on the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Orange Beach fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Arab last Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 8-7. One positive for the Makos, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Joel Chandler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brayden Hood was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mortimer Jordan didn't have quite enough to beat Gulf Shores on Friday and fell 11-10.

Mortimer Jordan saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Rice, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Orange Beach's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Mortimer Jordan, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
