Softball Recap: Depaul College Prep's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

DePaul College Prep came out on top against Whitney Young on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Rams walked away with a 6-2 win over the Dolphins. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lauren Steele made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

Steele wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Parlier, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Emma Regnier was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

DePaul College Prep's record is now 5-16. As for Whitney Young, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-8-1.

DePaul College Prep has already played their next game, an 8-2 win against Saint Ignatius College Prep on the 29th. As for Whitney Young, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 victory against Fenton on the 26th.
