The result came thanks to James Moore's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Bear Creek: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 4-13 otherwise.
At the plate, Matt Hegerle was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bear Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Loveland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory.
Loveland's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caden Waldorf, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Waldorf has posted since back in April. Ashton Norvell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Loveland pushed their record up to 8-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bear Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.
Bear Creek's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Loveland, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bear Creek continue to outrun the ball?
