Football Game Preview: Central Cabarrus Vikings vs. West Cabarrus Wolverines + How To Watch

The Central Cabarrus Vikings will square off against the West Cabarrus Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Cabarrus will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Central Cabarrus is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 34-15 win over Berry on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Central Cabarrus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damonte James led the charge by rushing for 112 yards and three scores on only 13 carries. James has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Chris Ikana, who rushed for 141 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Central Cabarrus was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 372 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but West Cabarrus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by Cox Mill 35-34.

West Cabarrus didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ka'Derrick Lewis and Rodriquez Harrison.

The win got West Cabarrus back to even at 4-4. As for Central Cabarrus, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Central Cabarrus couldn't quite finish off West Cabarrus when the teams last played back in April of 2021 and fell 11-8. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
