Baseball Recap: Soda Springs Comes Up Short

Soda Springs was the 9-8 winner over Declo when they last played one another on Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets on Friday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Junior Horsley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. He has become a key player for Soda Springs: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 6-11-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Soda Springs saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will McCullough, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Soda Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 8-12-1. As for Declo, their victory bumped their record up to 3-16.

Soda Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Declo, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-1 loss against Wendell on the 2nd.
