Basketball Recap: Sarcoxie Takes a Loss

After flying high against Greenfield on Friday, Sarcoxie came back down to earth. The Bears fell just short of the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers by a score of 51-48 on Tuesday. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cavaliers from their previous meeting back in January.

Jefferson Independent Day was led to victory by Kohl Thurman and Will Twiss. Thurman went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points in addition to three steals and three blocks, while Twiss shot 58% from the field on his way to 16 points and five steals. The last time Twiss' field goal percentage was this high was back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Radius, who posted six points.

Sarcoxie's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Sarcoxie will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Verona at 6:00 p.m. on December 9. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they will take on Greenfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
