Softball Recap: Gateway Regional Gators vs. Haddon Township Hawks
Gateway Regional extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They came up short against the Haddon Township Hawks, falling 21-11. The Gators were not able to make up for their loss to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Emma Worthington made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Adriana Endt was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for Haddon Township, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
On Haddon Township's side, Jamie Kozarski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Kozarski has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Lyons, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ariana Turkot, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Coming up, Gateway Regional will venture away from home to take on Haddonfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Haddon Township, they will host Northern Burlington at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
