Basketball Recap: Lawson Schreiner and Drew Davis Secure Win for Classical Academy

After losing to Valley Center the last time they met, Classical Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Caimans walked away with a 50-43 victory over the Jaguars on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Caimans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Leading Classical Academy to victory were Drew Davis and Lawson Schreiner. Davis posted 17 points, while Schreiner scored 16 points. Those 17 points gave Davis a new career-high.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pierce Hall, who had ten points. Hall continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chace Paxton, who earned 15 points and six rebounds.

Classical Academy's record now sits at 2-7. As for Valley Center, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Classical Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvin Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Caimans' defense better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 57.3 points per game this season. Valley Center and Orange Glen will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
