Baseball Recap: South Plaquemines Beats West Jefferson for Their Fourth Straight Win

South Plaquemines came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the West Jefferson Buccaneers a 10-0 shutout. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

Gavin Ballay made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Ballay was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Rod Parker and Khi Ancar did most of the damage at the plate: Parker scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2, while Ancar scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 1-for-1. Those five stolen bases gave Ancar a new career-high. Javonta Gomez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

South Plaquemines' win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for West Jefferson, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
