The Florence Gophers posted their biggest win since December 18, 2023 on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 56-33 margin over American Leadership Academy - Anthem South. Given Florence's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while American Leadership Academy - Anthem South is ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Florence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Bradeen, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Adrian Taufaasau, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
American Leadership Academy - Anthem South's loss came despite strong showings from Tyler Hill and Aaron Wanjala. Hill scored ten points along with eight rebounds, while Wanjala scored six points along with six rebounds.
Florence has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for American Leadership Academy - Anthem South, they bumped their record down to 3-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florence will square off against San Tan Foothills at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. San Tan Foothills is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for American Leadership Academy - Anthem South, they will head out on the road to square off against Coolidge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coolidge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.4 points per game.
