Basketball Recap: Junior Dunahoo and Riley Aguilar Secure Win for Banning

While Banning didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Rim of the World Fighting Scots 69-46 on Thursday. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while the Fighting Scots are ranked 1253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Banning was led to victory by Riley Aguilar and Junior Dunahoo. Aguilar posted 20 points, while Dunahoo earned 14 points. The contest was Aguilar's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sajon Prince, who put up eight points.

Rim of the World lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gilbert Banuelos, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Najara, who had five points.

Banning's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Rim of the World, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Banning didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-35 win against Arroyo Valley on the 13th. As for Rim of the World, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 69-19 loss against Palm Desert on the 13th.
