Preview: Telluride Miners vs. Mancos Bluejays
Telluride is 0-10 against Mancos since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The pair will face off at 11:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Telluride unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. The contest between Telluride and Crested Butte wasn't particularly close, with Telluride falling 73-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite their loss, Telluride saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Townes Merritt, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Merritt is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Grayson Berry was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Meanwhile, Mancos unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 58-47 to Sanford. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mancos has scored all season.
Telluride's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4. As for Mancos, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.
Telluride ended up a good deal behind Mancos in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, losing 51-34. Will Telluride have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
