Football Recap: Tashawn Palacio and Trayton Peters Secure Win for Chester

Chester won the last time they faced Wesclin and things went their way on Friday too. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 42-20 victory. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Chester was led to victory by Trayton Peters and Tashawn Palacio. Peters threw for 203 yards and five TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, while Palacio picked up 129 receiving yards and four scores. Thanks to that big game, Peters is now up to 16 passing touchdowns on the season.

Chester didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Derrius Shoemate, Zane Eggemeyer, and Kanon Jany picked up one apiece.

Despite the loss, Wesclin still got an impressive performance from William Waggoner, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Waggoner also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making five total tackles. Wesclin also got a significant boost from Cael Madden, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.

The win made it two in a row for Chester and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for Wesclin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Chester will square off against Carlyle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets will be up against the Indians/Lady Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wesclin, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sparta/Steeleville at 7:00 p.m.
