Softball Recap: Layton Comes Up Short

If Layton was feeling good fresh off their 17-0 takedown of Corner Canyon last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers came up short against the Mountain Ridge Sentinels on Wednesday, falling 15-5.

Macie Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Megan Child, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

Layton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for Mountain Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season.

Layton will take on Fremont at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain Ridge, they will head out to challenge Bingham at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sentinels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Miners have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
