Recap: Brattleboro Bears vs. Otter Valley Otters

The Brattleboro Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Otter Valley. Brattleboro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Otter Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Brattleboro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keagan Systo, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Johnathon Haskins, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Brattleboro bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Otter Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brattleboro will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Rutland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Otter Valley will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Mt. Abraham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
