Basketball Recap: Lone Star Comes Up Short

Lone Star lost against Arickaree back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lone Star Longhorns fell 58-49 to the Arickaree Bison.

Despite the defeat, Lone Star saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Peytyn Kuntz posted 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kuntz has scored all season. Aimee Trejo was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Raeya Schrock was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 16 on her way to 22 points and seven rebounds for Arickaree. What's more, Schrock also posted a 56% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabby Hermes, who went 5 for 7 to rack up 14 points.

Lone Star has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Arickaree, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Lone Star didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-34 loss against Caliche on the 3rd. As for Arickaree, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-23 defeat against Byers on the 30th.
