Soccer Game Preview: Republic vs. Kickapoo

Republic is 0-4 against Kickapoo since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Tigers will face off against the Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kickapoo will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Republic extended their winning streak to seven on Tuesday. The Tigers never let Joplin get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Give Republic's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Kickapoo got the win against Waynesville on Tuesday by a conclusive 5-0. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Kickapoo's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri soccer rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Waynesville are ranked 114th).

Republic's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those five matchups. As for Kickapoo, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.
