Basketball Recap: Creede Takes a Loss

If Creede was feeling good fresh off their 43-16 takedown of Lake City last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Creede Miners took a blow against the De Beque Dragons on Thursday, falling 67-37. The Miners were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in December of 2018.

When it comes to explaining why Creede lost, don't look at Jaxson Fazio. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points. That was a full 40.5% of Creede's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Creede's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for De Beque, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Creede and West Grand will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Creede is facing West Grand at the right time seeing as West Grand is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
