Baseball Recap: Skyview Hawks vs. Caldwell Cougars

Skyview proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 11) but on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Caldwell Cougars and snuck past 6-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Skyview also won the last time the pair played back in April.

Lukas Renschler tossed a big game, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Ledger Downs was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Caden Yesford was another key contributor, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

On Caldwell's side, Zaylor Bruegeman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-3 with three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Andreas Carrero, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Skyview pushed their record up to 21-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. As for Caldwell, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.
