Softball Recap: Edison Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Edison hadn't done well against Sanger recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Apaches 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Apaches last Tuesday, they had to take a 6-3 defeat.

Alexis Verduzco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Norah Uribe and Lauren Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Uribe went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Jones went 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most RBI Uribe has posted since back in March.

Edison hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 7-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Edison moved to 12-10 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Sanger, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.

Edison wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Bullard on the 13th. As for Sanger, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-4 victory against Madera on the 13th.
