Softball Game Preview: Grand Saline Indians vs. Mineola Yellowjackets

The Grand Saline Indians will head out to square off against the Mineola Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Grand Saline's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Mineola's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Grand Saline's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Quitman 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mineola's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Malakoff by a score of 4-3.

Journie Wilson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Grand Saline has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Mineola, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9-2.

Grand Saline skirted past Mineola 10-8 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
