Flour Bluff has won three straight games at home, while Palmview has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Hornets will host the Lobos at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Flour Bluff came out on top against King on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Mustangs.
Sidney Gerlach was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Addison Mayo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, while Palmview put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Martin. The Lobos put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 22-0 win.
Jordan Reyes made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Yailyn Trevino was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Alynna Gonzalez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Palmview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .759. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.
Flour Bluff's victory bumped their record up to 23-9-1. As for Palmview, their win bumped their record up to 21-3-1.
Flour Bluff got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 against Palmview by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Lobos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
