Basketball Recap: Alvin Comes Up Short

Alvin won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They lost 61-36 to the Manvel Mavericks. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Mavericks are ranked 316th).

Alvin's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Manvel, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alvin will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Dawson at 1:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Manvel, they will finish 2024 at home by hosting Lamar Consolidated at 1:00 p.m. on December 28th.
