Basketball Recap: Halifax County Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Halifax County posted their biggest win since December 17, 2024 on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 71-51 margin over the Bassett Bengals. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Bengals are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Halifax County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for Bassett, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
