Baseball Recap: Orange Takes a Loss

Orange fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Heritage on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 9-6 to the Huskies. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ryan Sawyer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Orange saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic O'Keefe, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Henry Hoffman was another, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Orange has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Heritage, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orange will be taking part in a tournament against Chatham Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heritage, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
