Baseball Game Preview: Napa Grizzlies vs. American Canyon Wolves

For the second straight game, Napa will face off against American Canyon. The Grizzlies will venture away from home to face off against the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Napa came up short against American Canyon on Tuesday, falling 19-5. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For American Canyon's part, Royce Hall was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Hall has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mason Harris was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. American Canyon is 5-1 when Harris posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Gholar, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

American Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Napa's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for American Canyon, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Napa has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like American Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
