Baseball Recap: Wellsville Takes a Loss

Wellsville had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it six. They fell just short of the Santa Fe Trail Chargers by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 1st.

As for Santa Fe Trail, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

For Santa Fe Trail's part, Hunter French spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. French also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Chargers are 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Strother, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellsville will host Baldwin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Santa Fe Trail, they will be playing at home against Eudora on Thursday.
