Baseball Recap: Durango Takes a Loss

Durango extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 5-10. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Banning Pilots. The Trailblazers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pilots from their previous meeting back in March of 2018.

Durango saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kysyn Kauahipaula, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Banning, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Banning's side, the team relied heavily on Isaac Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Herrera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Durango will head out on the road to take on Berkeley at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Trailblazers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Banning, they will take on Madison in a tournament on Tuesday. The Pilots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warhawks have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
