Baseball Game Preview: Keys Gate Knights vs. South Dade Buccaneers

The Keys Gate Knights will venture away from home to square off against the South Dade Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keys Gate will be strutting in after a victory while South Dade will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Keys Gate beat St. Brendan 4-1.

Jose Bermudez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Lazaro Puig was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Albert Franco also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Luis Alejandro Mora was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, South Dade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

South Dade's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Keys Gate, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Keys Gate has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like South Dade struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
