The Gillespie Miners will head out on the road to face off against the Dupo Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Gillespie is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
Gillespie's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Pana 12-0. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Sadie Sholtis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ava Parish was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Delaney Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Gillespie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pana only posted a batting average of .158.
Meanwhile, Dupo came up short against Steeleville on Tuesday, falling 9-3. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Maryann Imhoff was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Gillespie's record is now 9-5. As for Dupo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gillespie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Dupo struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Gillespie's way against Dupo in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Gillespie made off with a 20-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Miners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
