Basketball Game Preview: Chalmette Owls vs. Slidell Tigers

Chalmette is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Slidell a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Chalmette Owls will welcome the Slidell Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Chalmette was beaten by Fontainebleau 84-56. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, Slidell won against Salmen on Thursday with 71 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Slidell beat Salmen by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 71-48. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Slidell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points over those games. As for Chalmette, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-25.

Chalmette was dealt a bruising 56-29 loss at the hands of Slidell when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Slidell's Kolby Rachel, who went 5-for-10 en route to 17 points along with seven boards and six assists.
