Soccer Game Preview: Harker Heights vs. Shoemaker

The Harker Heights Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Shoemaker Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harker Heights is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Harker Heights had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the eight-goal drubbing they dealt Copperas Cove on Tuesday. The Knights' defense stepped up to hand the Bulldawgs an 8-0 shutout. Give Harker Heights' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Shoemaker's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged out Copperas Cove 1-0. The game was the first time Shoemaker have beaten Copperas Cove on their pitch since March 3, 2017.

Harker Heights' win bumped their record up to 14-3-1. As for Shoemaker, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-8-2 and their overall record up to 3-14-3.

Harker Heights got the 'W' when the teams last played on February 6th against Shoemaker by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
