Softball Game Preview: Prairie du Chien Blackhawks vs. Fennimore Golden Eagles

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks will venture away from home to take on the Fennimore Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prairie du Chien will be strutting in after a victory while Fennimore will be coming in after a loss.

While Prairie du Chien's win against Richland Center wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blackhawks skirted past the Hornets 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Blackhawks in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won nine in a row.

Claire Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Irelynd Cejka, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Fennimore didn't have quite enough to beat Mineral Point on Monday and fell 4-2. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Fennimore's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Prairie du Chien, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
