Football Game Preview: Purdue Poly Englewood vs. Greensburg Pirates

Purdue Poly Englewood will challenge the Greensburg Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Purdue Poly Englewood's defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so Greensburg's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Greensburg is facing Purdue Poly Englewood at the wrong time: Purdue Poly Englewood suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 23-22 to the Panthers.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greensburg). They blew past Rushville 36-16 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Greensburg found their leader in sophomore Levi Muckerheide, who rushed for 111 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries, and also threw for 152 yards and one touchdown while completing 85.7% of his passes. Those 111 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Muckerheide. A healthy portion of Muckerheide's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Carson Kilgore.

Greensburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Greensburg's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Purdue Poly Englewood, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Purdue Poly Englewood took a serious blow against Greensburg when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 35-8. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Greensburg's Austin Cruz, who rushed for 150 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries.
